my name is carmen jones, an enthusiast of yoga, pilates and mindful living.
Growing up I loved movement. Swimming and dancing were my main passions and running came as a natural way to train and move my body with more strength and intention.
I began teaching fitness classes at a YMCA while earning my Bachelors in Geography. Cardio and strength classes led to teaching “High Chi” at The Alliance Institute of Integrative Medicine, which was my gateway to further my learning. In 2010, I studied yoga in India and began teaching at The Breathing Room shortly after.
Being at a Pilates studio every day, I naturally fell in love with this form of movement. In 2012, I started my certification to teach Pilates Mat and Reformer through Balanced Body and immediately started teaching 12-22 classes a week.
While pregnant I decided to study Prenatal yoga through Blooma in Minneapolis, and after having my 2 daughters I became certified to teach Kids yoga through Childlight Yoga.
As a mother, I realized the importance of mental health and injury prevention so I started psychotherapy and physical therapy. It was like MAGIC! The learning process really started to pick up. I decided to begin my 500 hour RYT through Yoga Medicine.
After completing Anatomy and Trauma Informed Yoga through Yoga Medicine it was time to focus on private sessions.
Now I am super excited to work with you! In my sessions you can expect a focus on core strength and stability while learning to be more curious about breath work and the nervous system, and becoming aware of the benefits of mindfulness.
My favorite quote is “try to find ease through effort :-)”
My hobbies are: playing with my kids, hanging with my husband, dancing with my friends, traveling and learning.
